BMI View: We have moderated our short- and long- term forecasts for non-hydropower renewable capacity in light of new data and growing uncertainty regarding the outcome of the September federal elections. At present, the main opposition party, the Liberal-National coalition (L-NP), appears poised to win sufficient seats to form a ruling government. This is a bearish outcome for the renewables sector as the L-NP has promised to abolish the carbon tax and reduce electricity prices.
