South Africa’s government and state utility Eskom have finalised Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for 19 renewable energy projects, worth roughly US$3.1bn, as part of the second round of the REIPPP (Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme) auction system. Although delayed, the fact the process is advancing, albeit slowly, is a positive for the industry and highlights the country’s conviction towards it renewable energy agenda.
